When you see some of today’s retro cars what sort of memories do they bring back for you?

Recently it was announced that Ford Motor Company is bringing back the Playboy Pink Mustangs to the very popular retro 2008 Mustang’s line up. There are probably those of you who don’t remember the year Playboy gave a “Playboy Pink” convertible Mustang to the Playmate of the year. For those of you who do remember seeing them running around you may remember the mixed reviews the public had of them or what a great month it was for Playboy stands but whenever I remember those Playboy Pink Mustangs I am reminded of something other than that month’s edition let alone the articles everyone supposedly read.

It all happened when I was 17 and had just come to San Francisco California in search of fast cars, girls, fast cars and girls and did I mention girls? I was working in a service station when a beautiful gal… strike that, I mean beautiful woman came in with a car problem. Low and behold it was a new Playboy Pink Mustang and it was making a loud noise. She was scared to death that she had somehow ruined the car. She quickly explained how she had accidentally driven over a curb just before the noise started and then the red light on the dash came on. When I looked under the car it was covered with fresh oil and I could see the curb had poked a small hole in the oil filter. We pushed her car in on the lift and she waited while I changed her oil filter and added oil and started the engine. As soon as the oil circulated back thru the engine it was purring like a sewing machine.

Now before I tell the rest of the story I have to explain a few things… All of a sudden it dawned on me who this beautiful woman was and in fact this was one of the Playmates of the year standing right there in front of me. She was one of the most beautiful women I had ever met in my short 17 years and believe me my hormones where in high gear as my mouth hung open and I’m sure there was probably some drool on my chin.

As I wrote up her ticket she was concerned and asked if she had done any damage to her car… “What was that terrible noise?” she asked. At the age of 17 my darting eyes were trying so hard not to stare at her very revealing, very low cut dress as I bumbled along and before I realized where my eyes were looking and without thinking I just said… “Oh the noise… that was because the engine was low on oil and your knockers were lifting…. Er, Sweet Jesus, I mean your lifters were knocking.” She was so nice as I began to turn beet red and she had the biggest smile on her face and began to laugh and said, “Ahh, you’re so sweet.”

After she gave me a nice tip and drove away it was all I could do to remove my foot out of my mouth while my boss and his manager stood in the back of the shop laughing uncontrollably. And if Ford does sell them again I will never look at a Playboy Pink Mustang the same way again. On the other hand I don’t mind telling you that in my mind I bet she still looks as good today as she did some 38 years ago but I bet the Mustang isn’t doing as well.

My 9 year old daughter wants a pink Mustang. That is too strong for me but there is a black S197 Mustang with pink stripes and trim in last month's Mustang Enthusiast magazine that I could live with.

My 12 year old wants a pink Mustang with black stripes.

One can only "hope" according to President Obama....

Yeah I don't think I could handle looking at a pink mustang sitting in my garage.

I bet the seat covers you would see in a pink mustang would be sooo fine

im afraid to say orangecode that that paticular color combination has already been offered...and in a v6 convertible no less... the breast cancer awareness association....err whatever there really called offered a black mustang with neon PINK stripes as a grand prize in a con-*test*-('") to raise breast cancer awareness. theyr calling it the warriors in pink package and there will be only 2500 of them made offered in v6 premium package. the vehicle is available in 3 colors black metallic silver, and performance white.

how do i know this...ewr umm....oh what the hot place i ENTERED IT....i dont care if it was pinker then Richard simons. it was a freaking mustang! i'd drive it. if only to collect double takes! that and chicks dig pink(ok maybe not the bright ones but thats not the point)

oh and 73, at 19 i don't know about you but if ANY women under 30 gives me attention it gets my hormones raging rofl
