I realize this is not a Mustang related question but I thought surely one of the gear heads on here could give me their thoughts.

My 92 Mazda B2600 pickup (before you say anything, Mazda is owned by Ford biggrin.gif ) has been running rough and missing for some time. It all started when I detailed the engine bay and got something wet. It sounded like it was running on 2 cylinders. I limped it home and dried everything off. It started right up but had a problem with loosing electrical function and dying from time to time. I completed a complete tune-up with all new parts from Auto Zone (plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, air filter, and fuel filter). It seemed to run okay for several days but then started missing. I opened the hood a few evenings ago and it is arcing on # 2 & 3 plugs as well as occasionally from the distibutor cap to the distributor. Everytime it arcs and sparks, it is missing. Anyone have some input as to where I should start? I have since been back to Auto Zone to exchange the distributor cap for a new one just in case it had a hairline crack you couldn't see. It is still doing it. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

You may have cracked the insulators on the two plugs so replace those two and use a dielectric grease on both ends of the plug wires.
Take the cap off and put some dielectric grease on the caps edge that touches the distributor.

i didnt see the post but what Slim said biggrin.gif also dont clean your engine when its hot and dry as thoroughly as possible. we have a seperate "Absorber from Walmart $10" synthetic chamois for under the hood. it soaks up water out of plug holes, etc. real well wink.gif

Well did that fix it?

Went back to Auto Zone and had them give me a replacement set of plug wires. Seems to have corrected the problem for the time being. Thanks for all the input guys!
